QlikView 8: new functionality, new branding

QlikView 8 was released at the global User and Partner summit held in Amsterdam last month. This event was attended by some 450 delegates from around the world and QlikTech used the opportunity to also launch QlikView’s new branding

With over a hundred new features and performance gains of 30%, this release was extremely well received. It has focused on 4 key areas:

·         What-if analysis (it is now possible to enter or edit data),

·         User collaboration (click to email QlikView documents and bookmarks),

·         Document deployment (automatic generation of HTML pages), and

·         User deployment (new enhanced Publisher).

This is the latest in a series of industry recognitions for QlikView. In May, QlikTech made the Red Herring 100 list of the most innovative privately-held companies. Previous winners spotted by Red Herring’s editors are the early eBay and Google. Also in May, QlikTech was selected as one of six “Fast Track” innovators during the annual Software 2007 event, for its demonstration of financial viability and market adoption with customers. During April, the Sand Hill Group recognised QlikTech as one of the 25 most innovative players in the software industry.

Having the best information to do your job is a right, not a privilege

Companies looking to capitalise on their BI investments are going to have to take a leaf out of the South African Constitution.  While BI has significantly contributed to the accessibility of information, companies should take heed of the benefits of widely disseminating information and creating an information democracy.
